USA: THE ROGUE SUPERPOWER
    By Shant Norashkharian
I.

The United States Of America is a beautiful mansion which sits on a vast graveyard, which contains the bones of many nations it destroyed to build its empire. From the American Indians to the Africans to the Vietnamese, Palestinians and Iraqis, this empire was built on several centuries of invasions and genocides. Most Americans living in this mansion and enjoying a good standard of living at the expense of others do not know or do not want to know this. Intentional ignorance is widespread here. Some are so naïve as to ask “why do they hate us?” Others are so ignorant of geography and history that they will immediately believe what their government tells them. But the truth has much evidence for those willing to see it. Instead of exporting our good values to the rest of the world, we have made them drink bitter death and destruction. Instead of supporting honest leaders who cared for their people, we have supported dictators who piled the corpses of their own people. This is the true untold legacy of USA, called America. The arrogance of the rogue superpower is evident even when it calls itself America, as it is a small part of the continents of America.

The USA did not fight World War II for justice and freedom, contrary to the popular myth. It fought to become a superpower. The same fascists and Nazis who started World War II were promoted to positions of power by USA after the war and helped to establish similar regimes around the world. The USA has never fought a legitimate war to defend its own land. Even the Mexican war was manufactured just like all the others. Crossing the Atlantic and attacking a European power that some day might attack our shores was just an excuse like the WMD excuse for Iraq. Like 9/11, there is much evidence that Pearl Harbor was at least known by the US before it happened. In the last sixty years, instead of bringing freedom and justice to the world, the USA brought misery in such a scale that it made the 19th century colonialists/imperialists look like petty gangs and little death squads. Almost no country escaped its evil reach. Uzma Aslam Khan wrote:

“Between 1945 and now, the US has never stopped being at war with the world. For fifty-eight years, there has never been a single year in which it has not bombed and occupied another country, and in most years, it has attacked two or more countries at the same time.
It attacked Korea from 1950-1953, and during the same period, also re-attacked the Philippines to stifle an indigenous leftist uprising. From 1945-49, it sent half a million troops to China, again to choke off the communists. In 1946-48, it sent troops to Italy; In 1947-49 to Greece; 1949-53 to Albania; together with the UK it attacked Iran in 1953; Guatemala also in 1953; Indonesia in 1958; Cuba 1961-62; Thailand in 1962; Laos 1962-75; Congo 1964; Peru 1965; Dominican Republic 1965-66; Vietnam 1961-73; Cambodia (1969-70); Chile (1973); the proxy war in Afghanistan (1979-88); Nicaragua (1981-90); El Salvador (1980-92); Libya (1981, 1986, 1989); Panama (1989); Grenada (1983); Persian Gulf (1984); Iraq (1991, and air strikes had been repeatedly launched till the time of the latest full-scale invasion); Serbia (1997); Afghanistan and Sudan (1998); Afghanistan (2001 to date); Iraq again.”

This is an incomplete  list. A more detailed list can be found here:

http://www.zmag.org/CrisesCurEvts/interventions.htm

As of today, the Rogue Superpower warns the world: “Do not what I do, but do what I threaten you to do, or else we will turn you to another Iraq. But if you already have weapons of mass destruction, we will go to the farthest step to negotiate with you, of course to force you to give up what we have a thousand times more. WMD? We are the only ones who used it and we intend to be the only ones who use it in the future. In fact, we will even ask that irrelevant debate society called the United Nations to help us “disarm” you with our embargos and inspector spies and spy planes. Then you will be in an ideal state for our invasion, and we will invade you even if you try like hell to prove a negative. And if you do, we will come up with another negative for you to prove. Finally, after we say you failed to pass our test, we will “liberate” you from sovereignty to colonialism, and from former made-in-USA now-demonized-thug to the next new made-in-USA now- praised-thug. We, the leaders of the “free world” and the “Coalition Of The Killing”, will continue to do God’s work on earth.

War is the life support system and greed is the driving force of capitalism or the so-called free market system. The insatiable monster called USA is like a dinosaur which will consume everything in its path on all continents eventually causing its own extinction, but only after destroying mankind and the planet as we know it. Uzma Aslam Khan wrote:

“It is more than obvious that the United States and its Liberation Army care nothing about the disarmament of destructive weapons, about human rights, or about any international law. If they did, they would not have renounced the non-nuclear proliferation treaty, or voted against the protocol allowing implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention, or rejected the treaty banning land mines, so that tens of thousands of innocent civilians around the world, mostly children, do not have to live their lives without legs, arms, and eyes. New mines have again been laid by the US in Afghanistan a country that had already been riddled with more mines per square inch than any other country in the world. America has vetoed the passing of virtually every international attempt to reduce instances of war, and to protect the environment. As I have said already, for the last fifty-eight years it itself has never stopped being at war with the world. Its economy thrives on war.”

When it comes to regional wars around the world between different groups or countries, the USA could not care less who wins or loses, as it has infinite means to convert allies to enemies and vice versa. What matters for the USA is that there is a dynamic balance in these wars, where not one party becomes too strong to destroy the other, but both eventually consume their resources and become easy prey for USA intervention. The number or kind of victims in these wars does not matter. What matters is that destruction creates markets for USA products. The Iran-Iraq war orchestrated by the USA was a good example. Just as the USA is busy manufacturing made-in-USA thugs, it is busy manufacturing wars. For a while there were enough spoils to share with the wolves of Europe. But no more. Now there is no more competition and only one superpower.

Nothing shows the true nature of the Rogue Empire of USA more than 30 years of vetoes at the United Nations. USA allies which violated UN resolutions do not have to worry about invasions or even complaints. While Iraq violated a dozen of them,  Israel violated about 60 UN resolutions passed against it, much more than any other country and most of the rest were violated by USA allies like Turkey.  Has anyone heard USA criticism of them? While for 12 years we heard that Saddam killed his own people, did the USA ever complain about the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Israel or the ethnic cleansing of Kurds in Turkey? Here is a list of the resolutions:

And the shameful list above of USA vetoes, which shows a pattern of disrespect for human rights:

II.
"An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide."

Arnold J. Toynbee, Historian (1889-1975)

Patriotism is a good value which makes people proud of their own country and loyal to their flag. However, this pride and loyalty can be confused with pride and loyalty toward the government, and therein lies the danger. A massive propaganda machine like the mass media today can exploit patriotism to eliminate dissent and establish absolute power or fascism. In a recent speech, actor Tim Robbins said: “If you oppose this administration there can and will be ramifications. Every day the airwaves are filled with warnings, veiled and unveiled threats, spewed invective and hatred directed at any voice of dissent. And the public, like so many relatives and friends that I saw this weekend, sit in mute opposition and in fear.”

While true support for the troops means to support their right to come back home and not die for unjust wars, the propaganda machine would have you believe that dissent means betrayal of troops and endangering their lives. In reality, those who betray them are the ones that want others to die for them, and endanger their lives by sending them in harm’s way to begin with.

Which brings us to the hypocrite Congress of millionaires which votes for unjust wars, to send other people’s sons and other people’s money to fight for their own interests. Their masters are the global corporations which value war profiteering above human life. A recent survey showed that out of 535 members of Congress, only one had a relative in the army. Most of the top leaders have never been to war. When Dick Cheney was asked why he did not serve in Vietnam he said: “I had other priorities”.

Norman Solomon wrote:

“Mark Twain was painfully aware of many people's inclinations to go along with prevailing evils. When slavery was lawful, he recalled, abolitionists were "despised and ostracized, and insulted" -- by "patriots." As far as Twain was concerned, "Loyalty to petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul." For being anti-imperialist, Twain was accused of being anti-American. Solomon wrote: “’Particularly in his later years,‘ scholar Tom Quirk has noted, ‘the fierceness of Twain's anti-imperialist convictions disturbed and dismayed those who regarded him as the archetypal American citizen who had somehow turned upon Americanism itself.’ "

While the West has a very short memory, the East never forgets. Tim Wise wrote:

“victims have long memories, while the powerful have the luxury--or at least think they do--of forgetting”.

What defeats an invader with superior power is not his lack of power, but Time. The suicide bombers, the insults and stones, the hundred degree days in the desert, the soldier who misses his home and sees the futility and wickedness of his mission. Time separates those who love the land from those who exploit the land. This is why the  “hearts and minds” of those who own the land are never for sale.

Almost no one mourns the fall of Saddam Hussein, as almost no one mourned the fall of many other made-in-USA thugs who were converted from local bullies to powerful dictators by the USA to plunder their country and murder its citizens. The list goes on and on: Marcos, Noriega. Somoza, Shah Reza Pahlavi, Pinochet, Pol Pot, Batista, Suharto, and many others. As long as they were our thugs playing to our fiddle not only we looked the other way but we gave them more support. Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Ladin were grown to be monsters by the USA from their early twenties. Needless to say without USA support they would be no more than older thugs today.

As the root of arrogance is ignorance _it is not by chance that they rhyme_ the root of hypocrisy and racism is double standards. What applies to “brave” and “free” Americans and what applies to the rest of the world are two different things. "Those barbarians hate freedom and good standard of living and that is why they are attacking us for our way of life, since we did nothing to hurt them. They started it all."
If American planes drop thousands of bombs on cities, that is war. If they take revenge by killing us, that is terrorism.

And speaking of bravery, who is more brave? Mass murderer colonialist Tommy Franks who landed in Baghdad protected by American tanks or the “terrorist” who blew up his body to fight against occupation? The former came to visit Saddam’s palace and proudly smoked a cigar to celebrate his “victory” after sending the deadliest army in the world ahead of him, while the latter would be a hero in any freedom-loving person’s mind.

The victor in a war not only writes its history but he demands compensation for the losses. This is true even if the victor was the invader who was not acting in self-defense. And here comes the double standard. Iraq invades Kuwait and is defeated by USA, so it is forced to pay some $200 billion dollars in compensation for Kuwaiti victims. Yet what about the victims of the so-called collateral damage caused by the invader USA or the victims of the sanctions? Are they not entitled to compensation as well? What about the destruction of most of Iraq’s infrastructure and its heritage? And what about the damage caused  by USA invasions for the last 200 years? As there is our thug and their thug, apparently there is our victim and their victim, our justice and their justice. God help you if you are on the “other” side of the USA.

Indeed, the magic of language in the mouths of liars is amazing. Now anyone in the world fighting oppressive regimes supported by USA using violent means is conveniently called a terrorist. Many of the founders of this country would be called terrorists today. As it is wrong to attack civilians anywhere, who is fighting for a nobler cause? The American soldier who becomes a mercenary to fight in an illegal invasion and occupation, or the one who blows himself up without any earthly rewards to free his people from the invaders who are by far superior in strength? Bush and his gang have achieved what no invader of Iraq has for thousands of years, including the terrible Mongols: The destruction of Iraq’s and the world’s 7,000 year old heritage. We now  see the true fingerprints of a lying invader: Oil and Intelligence. The first to plunder the country and the second to eliminate the enemies of Israel and to install the next made-in-USA thugs in the region.

III.
The Bush Gang is bringing us dangerously close to a home-made model of fascism and totalitarianism. Not only do we have one totally corrupt party with Republican and Democratic wings, properly called “The Corporate Party” by Naom Chomsky, but also a mass media not unlike the one in Nazi Germany or Communist Soviet Union, which had many mouths being fed by one source, better known as the Bush Ministry of Disinformation.

“Fascism” in the AOL dictionary is defined as: “a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition”.

The Bush Gang is making sure that we do not lack any ingredients to cook fascism behind closed kitchen doors . One of these is fear mongering by manufacturing an enemy or an imaginary threat. 9/11 was a  great opportunity to create national paranoid schizophrenia complete with color-coded alarms and to prepare the grounds for more manufactured wars of profiteering to dominate the world. Whether it was the battleship USS Maine to start the Spanish War, or Pearl Harbor to attack Europe, or the Gulf of Tomkin to attack Vietnam, WMD became the new lie to invade Iraq, or the product which was easiest to sell the Iraq war according to war criminal Pual Wolfowitz.  Manufacturing consensus for an invasion for “self-defense” is much easier when the watchdogs of mass media become embedded lap dogs who call themselves reporters, and a public which cannot even find Iraq on a map. A well-organized campaign of Disinformation, operating on all channels of communication and 24 hours a day, could finally convince the man in the street that unless he is ready to sacrifice his son, the enemy will be at his door.

Another ingredient of fascism is bad economy. If you cannot do anything to fix a bad economy, start a war and fill up the army with the angry unemployed masses. But make sure you attack a country rich in resources so you can pay for it and cover up your economic failure. Another ingredient is humiliation: How dare they attack us on our own soil? Another ingredient is racism: We are good, they are evil. If you are not with us you are against us.

Arianna Huffington wrote:

"Beware USA! The wolves of Wolfowitz have now tasted blood…the idea that our slamdunk of Saddam actually proves the White House was right is particularly dangerous because it encourages the Wolfowitzes and the Perles and the Cheneys to argue that we should be invading Syria or Iran or North Korea or Cuba as soon as we catch our breath. They've tasted blood…I give it less than a week before someone starts making the case that President Assad is the next, next Hitler.”

The media wolves are already drooling for the next chunk of raw meat to fill up their all-consuming 24 hour propaganda. Sharon and his Gang masturbate as the real pornography of crude power over helpless souls unfolds. “Operation Syrian Freedom” is on its way, followed by  “Operation Iranian Freedom”, followed by  “Operation Pakistani Freedom”, etc. Years after the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, not only there is no freeedom in these countries but no security as well.

In times like these, language becomes the second casualty of war after truth. Trivial issues fill up the headlines while important events are ignored. Each word from the propaganda machine is calculated with mathematical precision. “The unfortunate death of civilians” is not from bombs, but lack of “fortune”. We had nothing to do with it.  “It happens”, says Rumsfeld. This “it” had nothing to do with him. “These things cannot be avoided”. So the pilot had a gun to his head? We did not mean to blow you to pieces so you are not real damage but “collateral damage”, and it is not our fault if you were at the wrong place at the wrong time. So there, go live without your limbs and forget you ever had a home or a family. It was an act of God, Bush’s God, who tells him it’s no big deal. “It happens”.

"The character of our military reflects the character of our country," said Bush. I guess that makes us a country of hired killers. But should we not know better than naive teenagers who are fooled by promises of steady income and free education, all topped by the sold ideal of defending your country from imaginary enemies?

The majority in this country apparently supports this Gang and all of us including me pay for their vile deeds. How does one explain this? We have no choice in paying taxes, but we do have a choice to get rid of the Gang that made criminals from all of us. This is an unholy alliance between Zionists and Christian Fundamentalists, although the latter group is controlled by the former and, as strange as it may seem, it believes that its apocalyptic delusions will only be fulfilled by the ultimate and final triumph of Zionism and the destruction of Israel. What kind of twisted mind could insert this kind of nonsense in the minds of 80 million so-called Christians is unknown. Even those pathetic creatures like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson could not be so successful all alone.

What kind of twisted mind could insert this kind of nonsense in the minds of 80 million so-called Christians is unknown. Even those pathetic creatures like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson could not be so successful all alone. Mark Webber wrote:

"So if the official reasons given for the war were untrue, why did the United States attack?

Whatever the secondary reasons for the Iraq war, the crucial factor in President Bush’s decision to attack was to help Israel. With support from Israel and America’s Jewish-Zionist lobby, and prodded by Jewish "neo-conservatives" holding high-level positions in his administration, President Bush — who was already fervently committed to Israel — resolved to invade and subdue one of Israel’s chief regional enemies.

This is so widely understood in Washington that U.S. Senator Ernest Hollings was moved in May 2004 to acknowledge that the U.S. invaded Iraq "to secure Israel," and "everybody" knows it. He also identified three of the influential pro-Israel Jews in Washington who played an important role in prodding the U.S. into war: Richard Perle, chair of the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board; Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Defense Secretary; and Charles Krauthammer, columnist and author. [1]

Hollings referred to the cowardly reluctance of his Congressional colleagues to acknowledge this truth openly, saying that "nobody is willing to stand up and say what is going on." Due to "the pressures we get politically," he added, members of Congress uncritically support Israel and its policies."

Here is Mark Webber's article about the Zionist influence on America:

         http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/conspiracy_theory/fullstory.asp?id=207

While Israel watched with glee the defeat of its enemy without lifting a finger, it is the Americans who will bear the cost for many years to come. What a deal! Why worry about enemies when the superpower will take care of them for you and send you an extra few billions for being a good boy.

And what is the “victory” of an unjust war? Uri Avnery said it best:

“No victory justifies an evil war. Quite the opposite. It just adds to the evil…A war that ends with the victory of the aggressor is worse than a war that ends with their defeat. It is more destructive, both physically and morally."

..."Who are the winners? They are the so-called neo-cons, or neo-conservatives. A compact group, almost all of whose members are Jewish. They hold the key positions in the Bush administration, as well as in the think-tanks that play an important role in formulating American policy and the ed-op pages of the influential newspapers... The immense influence of this largely Jewish group stems from its close alliance with the extreme right-wing Christian fundamentalists, who nowadays control Bush's Republican party. ...Seemingly, all this is good for Israel. America controls the world, we control America. Never before have Jews exerted such an immense influence on the center of world power."

In fact, there is no such thing as victory in war. The loss of physical power of the “loser” is in the same proportion as the loss of spiritual power of the “winner“.”

Patrick J. Buchanan wrote:

"Cui Bono? For whose benefit these endless wars in a region that holds nothing vital to America save oil, which the Arabs must sell us to survive? Who would benefit from a war of civilizations between the West and Islam?

"Answer: one nation, one leader, one party. Israel, Sharon, Likud."

Almost every Israeli leader came to power because of their success in terrorism. These terrorists who always enjoyed unequivocal US support also had the support of most Israelis who elected them, including the current leader Sharon who was elected twice after being convicted of mass murder 20 years ago in Lebanon. For him like for many corrupt Arab leaders, peace is only a cheap way to buy time and fool the masses. Israel, the most racist country in the world with its system of apartheid and the oppression of half its population, is the biggest recipient of USA aid, excluding the puppet regime of Iraq. In Iraq as in Afghanistan, we have become another Israel, shooting and bombing unarmed civilians and demonstrators. Kurt Nimmo wrote:

“I guess the Israelization of Iraq is in full swing. Iraqis will be treated like Palestinians -- gunned down for throwing stones.”

The Jews who support Israel and lament about their Holocaust with every chance they get, have now adopted the tactics of their Nazi murderers: Dehumanize, demonize, ostracize, pulverize. However, to avoid world attention they practice retail ethnic cleansing as opposed to wholesale. They kill a few dozen Palestinians each week, steal a few dozen pieces of land, and bulldoze a few dozen houses. What do they have to fear? They have the fourth strongest army in the world and still play the role of the poor victim surrounded by hostile Arabs, most of whom are ruled by USA puppets. As to world opinion, just leave that to the Zionist media which will kill almost every report critical of Israel.

No doubt Palestinians who kill civilians must be strongly condemned as well. But how else can one fight a big and well-armed army of occupation and tyranny. They are left with nothing to resist but their own bodies and lives. their. As in USA, state terrorism is called a matter of “self-defense”, even if the state is infinitely more powerful and can impose peace with justice if it wills. Hitler called Jews subhuman, Sharon calls Palestinians cockroaches. Every one knows what to do with those little black things.
V.
Those who tell me to “love it or leave it” are the biggest hypocrites of all. They cannot tolerate dissidence, so I must assume they support dictatorship. But they say they love this country because they love freedom. So it follows that they love only their kind of freedom, when everyone who disagrees with them either shuts up or leaves. But how can this be freedom? Only if you are a hypocrite. You think they will leave if the American Indians tell them to do so? Would they leave Iraq when ordered by a democratically elected leader? “Some people are more equal than others”, because they can smash right with might, and spread their racism like infected mosquitoes. Perhaps they should leave to live under a dictator because they would not have to worry about dissidence there. They fail to see that this country was based on dissidence and its greatness came from it, until it was squandered on abusing others. Like many immigrants I was a victim of America’s wars. Like them, I was also a victim of America’s propaganda which made me immigrate here. It is too late now: My hands are soaked in blood just like every other American.
